Kearney man dies in overnight house fire

One person has died following an overnight house fire in Kearney.

KEARNEY, Neb. — One person has died following an overnight house fire in Kearney.

Firefighters responded to a report of the blaze around 11:00 Sunday night. It happened at a house in the 3700 block of Avenue M, which is on the northeast side of town. According to a news release, responders learned that two of the three residents were able to escape the home safely. Emergency personnel found a 69-year-old man dead inside the house.

The Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
