KEARNEY, Neb.— Construction on the Kearney Power Project transmission line is complete, with the new line now energized.

The Kearney Power Project was first announced at the beginning of November in 2024.

With three and a half years of public involvement, easement acquisitions, and construction, the transmission line was officially energized on June 6.

The new line will allow increased capacity with the transmission system which will in turn meet the increasing demand, reliability and resiliency of energy service in the Kearney area.

“We appreciate the cooperation of the landowners and the public throughout this entire process,” said Paul Brune, the NPPD Project Manager. “As the Kearney area’s energy needs continue to grow, this project will help ensure reliable energy service to the area for years to come.”

With construction completed, crews are currently working to remove material and equipment from yards and complete property restoration for all affected.

Information on the Kearney Power Project can be found on nppd.com under the “current projects” tab.
