SIDNEY -- The Sidney School District Board of Education recognized the February students of the month Monday. 

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. These criteria are: 1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning. 2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project. 3. Outstanding Contribution to the class. 4. Leadership exhibited in class/school. 5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled. 6. Service to school. The January Students of the Month were recognized at the February 9 board meeting. 

February students of the month are: 

7th grade – Penelope Guth: Sidney Middle School is happy to name Penelope Guth as the 7th grade student of the month for February. Penelope is a strong academic student and manages to be very active in sports and school activities Penelope is always willing to assist others to understand problems and demonstrates the strong desire to learn by asking questions when she does not understand. Her responsibility in the classroom and her determination to excel, make her an outstanding student. Penelope is the daughter of Michael and Nicole Guth. 

8th grade – Evelyn Gillham: Evelyn Gillham has been selected as Sidney Middle School’s 8th grade Student of the Month for February. Evelyn is an exceptional student who demonstrates care, responsibility, and pride in everything she does. She approaches her academics with diligence and consistently produces high-quality work. Evelyn’s leadership stands out in remarkable ways. She recognizes what needs to be done, organizes those around her, and leads with confidence while remaining patient and kind. Her ability to guide others while still actively participating herself makes her an invaluable presence in the classroom. Evelyn is the daughter of Paul and Maria Gillham. 

9th grade – Emma Ford: Emma always comes to class with a great attitude and works really hard. Emma is friendly and helpful to her table mates and does a great job in class discussions. She is an outstanding student, has a high work ethic and completes her work thoroughly and accurately. Emma represents Sidney by participating in basketball, cheerleading track and field and HOSA. She is the daughter of Nicholas and Haley Ford. 

10th grade – Campbell Shoemaker: Campbell is a well-rounded student who prioritizes his academics, activities, and friendships. Campbell is a respectful, dedicated student. He always gives his best effort both in and out of the classroom. Campbell is an outstanding kid and a good role model for students his age. He always gets his work done and leads by example. He’s a great peer and very sociable amongst classmates. Campbell participates in football, basketball, and golf. He is the son of Jeff and Julie Shoemaker. 

11th grade – Reagan Nesbitt: Reagan is a highly organized and dedicated student. She juggles her many activities and responsibilities, never getting behind or turning work in late. Reagan makes her academics a priority i every case. She is also a vital member of our varsity volleyball, girls’ basketball and track and field teams. She also participates in National Honor Society and travel club volleyball. She is the daughter of Jay and Carrie Nesbitt. 

12th grade – AJ Reyes: AJ is a hard-working student, friendly to everyone and especially polite. Since moving to Sidney from the Philippines, he has become involved in extracurricular activities and making friends. He has come so far and is a great addition to the senior class. He has participated in football. AJ is the son of Maria and Marcus Rees.
