Warriors Ends Knights' Season in District C2-8 Final

Elmwood-Murdock suffers first home loss of the season

MURDOCK, NE - The Crofton Warriors punched their ticket to the Girls Basketball State Tournament with a 52-40 win at Elmwood-Murdock's place on Friday, as heard on B103. The loss drops Elmwood-Murdock to a final record of 21-4 on the season with this being their lone home defeat. Crofton is now 19-7 as they head to Lincoln to compete in the State Tourney.

Elmwood-Murdock held a brief lead early at 6-3, but Crofton then scored the final 11 points of the quarter to go on top 14-6 after one. That lead moved to 26-17 at the break. EM made it a three-point game heading into the fourth, 35-32, and tied the contest at 35 apiece on the first bucket of the last quarter. After that, Crofton took control again, pulling away for the 12-point win.

Brooklyn Mans led the host squad with eleven points, while Brooke Goudie hit for ten. Goudie also secured ten boards & doled out five assists. The Knights struggled at the free throw line, hitting just 50% (8/16). For the visitors, Jaisie Janssen did most of her damage at the charity stripe, connecting on 14/15 attempts there, and finishing with a game-best 18 points. Emma Kuchta was also in double figures with eleven. Overall, the Warriors were an impressive 25/29 at the FT line, accounting for nearly half of their points. Janssen turned in a double-double on the night, adding 14 rebounds.
