HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - On Thursday morning, Hastings Public Schools debunked an online rumor that a gun was brought to Hastings Middle School.

The rumor stemmed from a Wednesday night post on Facebook claiming that “a student was expelled last week for bringing a gun to school.”

In an email to Local4, Hastings Public Schools Superintendent Christopher Prososki wrote, “There is no substance to this online report.”

Prososki also said reports on social media should be taken with a grain of salt and that “No students have been expelled.”

Hastings police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
