Motorized bicycle rider dies in North Platte crash

A North Platte man died Monday night after his motorized bicycle was struck by a box truck at the intersection of 12th and Jeffers.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A North Platte man died Monday night after his motorized bicycle was struck by a box truck at the intersection of 12th and Jeffers.

Jason Miller, 55, was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m. at Great Plains Health, according to the North Platte Police Department.

Police said the collision happened around 7:34 p.m. A Freightliner box truck, driven by a 70-year-old North Platte man, was traveling southbound on Jeffers. Miller was northbound on Jeffers in the easternmost lane on his motorized bicycle.

The investigation indicates that the box truck struck Miller’s motorized bicycle as he attempted to make a left turn onto 12th Street.

he North Platte Fire Department EMS transported Miller to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
