Hastings officials release cause of Wednesday trailer park fire

Hastings authorities say Wednesday's trailer park fire was accidental in nature, and the trailer is a total loss.

HASTINGS, Neb. – Hastings authorities say Wednesday's trailer park fire was accidental in nature, and the trailer is a total loss.

Hastings Fire and Rescue responded to Smitty's RV Park on S Pine Ave. just after 5:00 p.m.

The fire caused the most damage to the west side of the trailer, and was seen spreading to the bottom of the trailer.

In a Thursday news release, the city said the blaze was caused by 'smoking material'

The release said one adult and one child were inside the trailer when the fire started, but were able to safely evacuate from the home.

Firefighters put out the fire in roughly 30 minutes, and no one was injured.
