HASTINGS Neb. – The Tigers new volleyball coach is Mandy Buderus, who has numerous years of experience as a volleyball coach in Central Nebraska.

Buderus fills the after spending the past 10 years as the Hastings Middle School 8th grade Volleyball Head Coach. Before that, she previously coached at the club level in Hastings, and was an assistant at Doniphan-Trumbull.

Buderus has been hired, but the move must be approved by the Hastings Public Schools Board of Education during their next meeting in April.

On Monday morning, Buderus joined the Doug and Daddy Show on ESPN Tri-Cities to talk about the volleyball scene in Hastings, playing in a new conference, and what she expects out of the Hastings program in the immediate future.

"It'll be an objective of mine to work with the youth, we've got a pretty good investment in our club programs here, and the girls, they want to play, they want to work hard," said Buderus. "(I'll) definitely will be looking at what I can do with the youth, and continue to improve our club program, and keep working with girls through that system."

"We're in a very tough conference now (Eastern Midlands Conference) and that can do nothing but push us to be better," said Buderus. "If we can compete at the non-conference level in Class B, it's not unheard of to get into that top 16, and a goal will be a sub-state district final game. I think that's very manageable, and give us a shot of getting back to Lincoln hopefully soon."
