South Central Nebraska in ‘enhanced’ risk for severe storms
Forecasters are warning of the possibility of severe weather in Central Nebraska on Tuesday.
HASTINGS, Neb. — Forecasters are warning of the possibility of severe weather in Central Nebraska on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in Hastings says south Central Nebraska and north central Kansas are in the enhanced risk category for severe weather, which is the third highest of five categories. The NWS says the main time frame for concern is from 1:00-10:00. Possible hazards include tennis ball-size hail and wind speeds higher than 60 miles per hour. It’s possible that a few tornadoes could pop up.
Forecasters say there could be more than one round of storms. They might start out isolated, but are likely to grow into larger lines that sweep from west to east.
Officials encourage people to be weather aware and to prepare for the possibility of severe storms.
