GIBBON, Neb. -- Authorities said a 22-year-old Kearney man died in an accident on Interstate 80 over the weekend.

The Nebraska State Patrol said that around 2:50 p.m. Sunday, a Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 22-year-old Pablo Briceno, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Grand Prix was heading west on I-80 when it crossed the median into the eastbound lanes and struck a semi near mile marker 288.

The NSP said the occupants in the semi were not injured.

The eastbound lanes of I-80 were closed for more than four hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

The family has put together a GoFundMe for Briceno's services.
