Norfolk Junior High Auditorium getting summer facelift
A northeast Nebraska junior high is planning upgrades to its auditorium this summer.
NORFOLK, Neb.— A northeast Nebraska junior high is planning upgrades to its auditorium this summer.
Norfolk Junior High School Principal Beau Viergetz says the building is more than 100 years old, and the auditorium hasn’t seen a major refresh in decades.
After several years of planning and fundraising, the district has now approved a bid to begin improvements once the school year ends.
“The main reason is that there's some paint around the auditorium that is chipping away. And so we started this process a few years back to raise the money to try to give our auditorium a facelift,” Viergetz said.
The project will cost around $112,000. Nearly $100,000 of that has been raised through donations, with the remaining funds coming from the district.
Work will begin right after students leave for summer break and will include repainting the auditorium as well as improvements to the stage area. Viergetz says they’re excited for students to return next year to a space they can take pride in.
