MINATARE, NE -- The Minatare Public Library Board and Splash Pad Committee are working together to build a splash pad for local families and children.

The splash pad would be an addition to Kelso Park, offering an additional outdoor activity for children during the summer months, said Caryle Covalt with the Minatare Public Library.

The two entities are looking for community sponsors for the Splash Pad Project, which they have estimated will cost around $200,000.

Covalt said The City of Minatare has budgeted to cover a portion of the cost.

The board is currently deciding on the sponsorship dollar amount and will have more information after the meeting Monday, March 16.

Sponsors who donate to the project will have their names listed on a sign at the Splash Pad.

“We first started talking about it in September at a library board meeting,” Covalt said. “We are a small community, so we thought we would add something to our park for a little more entertainment and give something fun for the kids to do to cool off in the summer.”
