GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol said they arrested a woman after finding 10 lbs. of suspected methamphetamine during an encounter near York.

The encounter reportedly happened at an Interstate 80 rest area near York around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when a trooper made contact with the driver, 31-year-old Monica Morales of Illinois, of a Hyundai Accent.

The NSP said the trooper detected the odor of marijuana during the encounter.

According to authorities, a search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana and 10 lbs. of suspected meth. It was reported the meth was found concealed inside a suitcase in the trunk or the vehicle. 

Troopers also found a handgun in the vehicle, according to the NSP. 

Officials said Morales was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm during a drug violation, and possession of marijuana - less than an ounce. 

Morales was lodged in York County Jail.
