CAMBRIDGE, Neb. -- Firefighters continue to make progress on the Road 702 Fire in southwest Nebraska.

State emergency officials say responders dealt with high winds again Tuesday, but they were able to bring the widespread brushfire to 74 percent containment.

Fire officials worked with local farmers and National Guard helicopters in the response, with heavy focus near the town of Wilsonville just north of the state line.

State officials were able to reopen Highway 634 to traffic Tuesday evening.

The fire has burned over 40,000 acres and resulted in multiple injuries and deaths.
