CENTRAL CITY, Neb. — Plans to close Central City’s Fox Theater are now on hold after an outpouring of community support.

The theater’s owners said on social media this week that they're giving local leaders and residents more time to find a path forward to keep the theater open.

They’ve postponed the potential closure until February 19, and the theater will continue operating as usual in the meantime.

Owners say the added time allows the community to evaluate whether a sustainable, long-term plan can be developed.

The same owners also operate Fox Theater locations in both Broken Bow and Cozad.
