Disabled veterans to receive tax and fee exception

NEBRASKA — Disabled veterans in Nebraska will be able to receive an exception for their vehicle taxes and fees.

Eligible veterans can receive an exemption for one owned personal vehicle starting on Jan 1.

This is a part of LB650, which was put into law this year.

Veterans must apply to the Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs (NDVA) Military & Veterans’ Registry. 

"Veterans are encouraged to apply in advance of their registration or renewal as it may take up to 48 hours for information to be available to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) after a registry application is approved," the NDVA said in news release.
