NORTH PLATTE, Neb. - Country music superstar Luke Bryan has canceled his performance at NEBRASKAland Days this Friday due to illness, but a start-studded friend is stepping up to take his place.

NEBRASKAland Days officials confirmed the cancellation Wednesday, but with a silver lining.

Country music star Eric Church will step in to headline the Friday night show, joined by Joanna Cotten.

Bryan said in a message to fans he’s been trying to recover but his voice "just isn't there yet."

Bryan was set to open the Viaero Wireless Summer Jam Concert Series in North Platte, but many fans were bracing for bad news after Bryan postponed several recent shows due to the same illness.

Tickets for Bryan’s show will be honored for Eric Church’s performance with no exchanges needed.

Refund requests will be accepted until 5 p.m. on June 25.

Bailey Zimmerman remains Saturday’s headliner.
