Virgene R. Knoedler

Hastings resident Virgene R. Knoedler, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at First Christian Church in Hastings with Pastor Elba Iris Nazario officiating. Private family burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church of Hastings. Virgene married Dean Knoedler on March 5, 1959, in Cozad, NE. In 1965 they moved to Hastings, NE. Virgene was a devoted member of the First Christian Church. For many years Virgene was a devoted daycare provider for many families in Hastings. Virgene also worked at Russ’s and Mary Lanning Hospital until retirement.
Virgene enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a very creative person as she loved embroidery, sewing, gardening, quilting, and writing. Many will remember her for delicious Jean’s Jams and Jellies at the Hastings Farmer’s Market. Most importantly she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Virgene was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Dean; sister, Deanna; and brother, Roger Brand.
Survivors include her children, Christine (Joe) Ballou, Teresa Knoedler, Kelly (Cathy) Knoedler, and Justin Knoedler; grandchildren, Olivia (Jay) McCaslin, Trevor (Amanda) Knoedler, Nicholas Jensen, Derek (Becky) Jensen, Brittany (Colton) Barton, Skyler Ballou, and Lucas Knoedler; great-grandchildren, Owen McCaslin, Anna Jensen, Ellie Jensen, Jameson McCaslin, Elouise Barton, Theodore McCaslin, and Brennan Barton; sister, Sharon Carr; sister-in-law, Pat Brand; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
