Kearney shooting victim dies from injuries

KEARNEY, Neb. — Family and friends of a shooting victim are mourning after the man died from his injuries days after the shooting.

Kearney Police announced Friday that a 62-year-old man shot on Sunday died while in the intensive care unit at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. Police investigators will attend a scheduled autopsy.

Officers arrested 56-year-old Karen Geisler at the scene on Sunday. She is in the Buffalo County Jail on first-degree assault and weapons charges. The county attorney could elevate the charges now that the victim has died.

Police didn’t name the man, but court documents list Jimmy Geisler, Karen’s husband, as the victim. A criminal complaint accuses her of using a .38 revolver in the shooting.

On Monday, a judge set Geisler’s bond at 10% of $500,000. She is next scheduled for a hearing on Nov. 14.
