Grand Island shooting sends one to hospital

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one person injured in Grand Island.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call of a shooting early Sunday morning in the 1000 block of S Greenwich St.
Police said Juan Álvarez Jr. fired several shots, hitting a 22-year-old victim.
According to reports, Alvarez Jr. was helped by Jose Contreras Estrada, who drove Alvarez Jr. to and from the scene.
Alvarez faces felony assault and weapons charges while Contreras faces a felony accessory charge.
Police said the victim was hit multiple times and required surgery. There has not been an update on his condition.
