GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Authorities were urging people to stay away from an area in downtown Grand Island Wednesday morning.

Multiple Hall County Sheriff's vehicles and the Grand Island Fire Department were on the scene surrounding the Hall County Courthouse just before noon.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office received reports of a potential threat at approximately 10:45 a.m. The building was evacuated as a result, with sheriff's deputies and multiple other law enforcement agencies responding to the scene.

A Facebook post from the Hall County Sheriff's Office just before noon indicated that business had resumed, but the department asked people to avoid the area of 1st and Locust Streets as deputies investigated.

A search of the building revealed nothing suspicious. The investigation remains ongoing.
