RUSHVILLE - Concerns over the weather have led the Nebraska Dept of Natural Resources to cancel tonight's public meeting in Rushville on the Upper Niobrara White NRD developing a Voluntary Integrated Water Management Plan.

NRD manager Patrick O'Brien says with the possibility of snow tonight and tomorrow, department officials were worried about not being able to return to Lincoln right away. O'Brien expects the meeting to be rescheduled for mid-March.

The Upper Niobrara is the last NRD without a Voluntary Integrated Water Management Plan covering the portion of the district not designated as fully appropriated for water use.

O'Brien says the plan would fill in a few gaps between the NRD's state-approved plan covering the fully appropriated areas and its own existing rules and regulations on the rest of the district.
