BEATRICE - Gage County Sheriff's deputies arrested the disoriented driver of a U-Haul truck east of Pickrell, last Thursday afternoon.
A patrolling deputy observed the truck stopped along South 82nd Road, at about 3:40 p.m. When the officer contacted the driver, the vehicle's gear was in drive and the man behind the wheel was disoriented, did not know where he was or how he got there.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Devon Cooper, had a small baggie in his lap, with a substance that tested positively as methamphetamine.
Cooper was arrested for drug possession, driving under suspended license and driving under the influence of drugs. The U-Haul truck was towed from the scene. Authorities say it recently had been rented in Beatrice by another person associated with Cooper.
