A staff member in the Nebraska prison system suffered a fractured jaw after being attacked Monday.
The Corrections Department said the assault took place about 9:30 p.m. at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center in Lincoln. The inmate punched the staff member in the torso and head multiple times. Other staff members were able to help restrain the inmate.
An investigation is being done and the results will be turned over to the Lancaster County attorney for possible charges. Additionally, the prison system will apply its disciplinary actions, such as loss of good time.
