BEATRICE - A collision between a car and a semitrailer truck at around 4 p.m. Tuesday, at Cortland on U.S. Highway 77, sent the female driver of the car to the hospital.
The Gage County Sheriff, the Nebraska State Patrol and rescue personnel from Wilber, Clatonia and Cortland responded to the accident at the intersection of Highway 77 and Apple Road. A silver Kia collided and wedged under a semitrailer truck entering onto the highway, on the northern edge of Cortland.
The truck driver, 48-year-old Steven Buhr, of Beatrice, stopped at Apple Road and began making a left turn onto the highway, when the northbound car struck the trailer.
The driver, 33-year-old Christina Pierce, of Lincoln, was taken to Bryan Health West for injuries to her head, neck and body. Buhr was not hurt.
Gage County Sheriff Millard Gustafson says dense fog at the time, was a factor in the accident.
