Grant man arrested twice in one week, faces felony charges after weapon incident

GRANT, Neb. — A Grant man has been arrested twice within a week, including on felony charges following a disturbance involving a weapon, according to the Perkins County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded just before 11 p.m. Thursday, March 19, to a reported disturbance involving a weapon at a residence in Grant. Authorities said Lee A. Bucher allegedly displayed a bladed weapon in a threatening manner toward individuals inside the home, causing fear.

Upon arrival, deputies contacted those involved, detained Bucher and recovered the weapon described in the report. After reviewing victim statements and evidence, Bucher was arrested around midnight and transported to the Keith County Jail.

He was booked on charges of use of a weapon to commit a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person and terroristic threats.

The arrest comes just one week after a separate incident involving Bucher on March 12. Deputies initially responded just before 8 p.m. to reports of a man yelling and behaving erratically near Fifth Street and Central Avenue in Grant. Bucher declined assistance at that time and left the area.

About an hour later, deputies were called again after reports that he was yelling and throwing items several blocks south on Central Avenue. Based on witness statements and deputies’ observations, Bucher was arrested for disturbing the peace. He was transported to the Keith County Jail, cited and given a court date of April 15.

All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
