Minden seeks public input on potential community wellness center

MINDEN, Neb. — The City of Minden is asking residents to help shape the future of a potential community wellness center.

City officials have launched a public survey to gather feedback on what a city-owned wellness facility could look like and whether residents would support it.

Leaders say the responses will guide decisions on the size, scope and funding of the project.

City staff say the idea is still in the planning stages, with no final decisions made. Officials are using the survey to understand what amenities residents want — ranging from a full-scale recreation center to a more limited fitness facility, and what level of financial support the community would be willing to provide.

The city has applied for a Civic and Community Center Financing Fund Planning Grant and is working with Miller and Associates to analyze survey results.

Officials say the goal is to determine whether the project should be municipally owned, privately operated, or supported through memberships, fundraising or a potential bond issue.

Early response to the survey has been strong, according to city officials, who say broad participation is critical to determining next steps.

Results will be reviewed at a later date, with additional community discussions expected before any proposal is brought to the Minden City Council later this year.

Residents are encouraged to complete the survey by Feb. 25.
