McCook, Sedgwick County/Fleming claim Chase County Invite team titles

McCook won the boys team title at the Chase County Invite in Imperial, while Sedgwick County/Fleming rolled to the girls crown.

IMPERIAL, Neb. — McCook edged a crowded field to win the boys team championship and Sedgwick County/Fleming rolled to the girls crown Saturday at the Chase County Wrestling Invitational in Imperial.

McCook finished with 182.5 points, holding off Burlington (168.5) and Sedgwick County/Fleming (167.5). Bridgeport placed fifth (135.5) and Sidney was seventh (98.5), while Bayard took 11th (75.5), Garden County 12th (73.5) and Kimball 14th (46.5).

Bridgeport led area placers with a title at 150 pounds as James Jeffords won a 5-3 decision over Bayard’s Coy Armstrong. The Bulldogs added third-place finishes from Logan Freiberger at 120, Blake Collins at 150 and Illias Lehman at 157, plus a sixth-place finish from Jonah Conley at 138.

Sidney crowned Zech Roggasch at 165, pinning Garden County’s Jase Roberson in 2:24, and added a fifth from Rylan Swope at 113 and a runner-up from Cayson Boltjes at 215. Kimball’s Britton Culek finished second at 106. Bayard’s Nolan Dueker placed third at 126 and Henry Dueker was fifth at 106.

On the girls side, Sedgwick County/Fleming won with 185.5 points. Yuma was second (118.5) and Southwest third (113). Sidney placed seventh with 62.5, led by Monro Stewart finishing second at 170, Aspyne Houser taking third at 120 and Ravyn Lee placing third at 105. Southwest’s Capri Sayer won the 100-pound title, while Ogallala’s Kanzah Arabi won at 110.
