GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Families in Grand Island received food assistance Wednesday as Molina Healthcare of Nebraska partnered with the Grand Island Public Library to host a community food distribution event.

The event served up to 200 households with shelf-stable groceries and fresh produce, helping families manage rising food costs during the holiday season.

Senior Specialist Jordyn Ihle-Robinson with Molina Healthcare of Nebraska said the distribution was planned to support areas with higher levels of need.

Feeding America data shows more than 15 percent of Hall County residents face food insecurity, exceeding both state and national averages.

The event builds on a growing partnership between Molina Healthcare and the Grand Island Public Library, which previously collaborated on a community baby shower earlier this fall.

Library staff also asked community members to donate canned and non-perishable food items for Abbott House, noting recent donations have slowed.
