TRI-CITIES, Neb. — A shift is coming to local radio across Central Nebraska. NRG Media is selling all of its stations in the Tri-Cities, transferring some of the region’s biggest brands to a new Nebraska-based owner.

The newly signed agreement transfers six outlets, plus the news site Central Nebraska TODAY, to Usher Media, a Nebraska-owned company led by Alan Usher.

The deal includes stations in Kearney, Hastings and Grand Island, with financial terms not yet being released.

NRG says the sale reflects its continued restructuring. The company has sold stations in Nebraska, Illinois, and Iowa throughout 2024 and 2025.

Incoming owner Alan Usher says that the company plans to expand local news, weather and sports coverage while staying connected to its roots in the Tri-Cities.

The sale requires final FCC approval before the transfer is complete.
