KEARNEY, Neb. — Special teams paved the way for Kearney to earn a homecoming win.

The Bearcats used two blocked punts, one of which was returned for a touchdown, in the first quarter to jump out to a 21-0 lead before hanging on to defeat Millard North 31-28 on Friday night.

Sophomore linebacker Frazier Foster blocked both punts and returned his own block for a score to put the Bearcats up 21-0 with 1:52 left in the first quarter.

Millard North scored 20 unanswered points in the second and third quarters before a 29-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback John Florell and a 21-yard field goal by Carter Symington put Kearney back in front.

Kearney senior safety Treyton Norman had two late-game interceptions to seal the win for the Bearcats.
