Chicago homicide suspect behind bars after a run across Nebraska, authorities say

An Illinois man driving a semi across Nebraska arrested for suspected connection with a Chicago murder.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — An Illinois man driving a semi across Nebraska has been arrested for suspected connection with a Chicago murder.

Wednesday afternoon, the Nebraska State Patrol said they got word that Essian McGinnis, of Tinley Park, Ill. was traveling across Nebraska in a semi-truck.

Officers said they were able to spot the semi-truck in a business parking lot south of I-80 in North Platte.

McGinnis is being held at the Lincoln County Jail on an active warrant for homicide from Cook County, Illinois.

Authorities say The Nebraska State Patrol is working with the United States Marshals Service and the Chicago Police Department on this case.
