Hastings business acquiring city street, more land to expand operation
HASTINGS, Neb. – A Hastings industrial business is expanding, and now has access to a 'no thru traffic' street to add-on to its operations.
Bruckman Rubber Co. at 101 S St Joseph Ave asked the Hastings City Council to approve the vacation of S St Joseph Ave from the intersection of W South St to the BNSF railroad tracks, which the council unanimously approved 6-0 Monday night.
Bruckman Rubber has introduced an expansion plan, which the business plans to implement in three phases from 2025-2029.
The first phase plans to expand a liquid nitrogen tank on the west side of the building to three times its current size.
The next two phases involve constructing additional buildings on a currently city-owned parking lot to the northwest of the company, and on the east side of an alley to the east of the building.
Kully Pipe and Steel Co. sits to the west of Bruckman Rubber, and has agreed to the vacation of the shared street in between the two businesses.
Each business will be allocated a portion of the street as it transforms into a private drive.
Bruckman Rubber Co. is being assisted in its expansion by a $350,000 Community Development Block Grant.
