Several Hastings streets to temporarily close for Half Hastings on Saturday

People out and about in Hastings on Saturday morning should expect to see traffic being diverted during multiple street races across the city.

HASTINGS, Neb. – People out and about in Hastings on Saturday morning should expect to see traffic being diverted during multiple street races across the city. 

The Half Hastings races on Sat. May 31, include a half marathon, half marathon relay, 5k and 1-mile fun run.

The half marathon and relay both start at 7:30 a.m. at Hastings Middle School and go east through town, ending at Hastings College’s Osborne Sports Complex.

Half marathon runners will be limited to a four-hour time limit, meaning the route will fully re-open to traffic by 11:30 a.m.

The 5k starts at 8:30 a.m. and starts and ends at the Osborne Sports Complex. The 1-mile fun run will start immediately after the 5k starts, also at the Osborne Sports Complex.

The half marathon course crosses Highway 281 at Kansas Ave., where Hastings Police Department officers will be on site to direct traffic and ensure safety of runners until 9:30 a.m.

Police Officers and cruisers will also assist with traffic control at the intersections of 2nd St. and Marian Road, 2nd St. and Bellevue Ave., and 12th St. and Crane Ave.

Vehicle traffic will be limited around Heartwell Park during the races.

The city says Eastside Blvd will be barricaded between north of 9th St. and south of Ringland Rd.

N Elm Ave. will be barricaded between north of Forest Blvd and Ringland Rd.

N Pine Ave. and N California Ave. will be barricaded north of Forest Blvd and south of Ringland Rd.
