HASTINGS, Neb. – A Central Nebraska hospital is celebrating a milestone from its Family Care Center in 2024, and is also approaching an all-time record.

Mary Lanning Healthcare has now had a hand in delivering over 1,000 babies since Jan. 1 at its hospital in Hastings.

Social media posts from the hospital say their Family Care Center staff has been busy this holiday season, which saw five babies born on Christmas Day, and three sets of twins in a span of 24 hours.

Hospital officials say as of Mon. Dec. 23, MLH had delivered 1,018 babies, and is closing in on the all-time record of 1,036 babies in one year.

The hospital recognized Hunter, a baby girl born to parents Liz and Kevin Holmes, as the 1,000th baby in 2024 on Dec. 22.

Mary Lanning officials say they're once again planning to recognize the first baby born in 2025 next Wednesday.
