Grand Island among 12 municipalities nationally selected to receive grant

A central Nebraska city is receiving a grant to foster economic mobility.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb.- - A central Nebraska city is receiving a grant to foster economic mobility. 
 
According to the city of Grand Island, the city is one of 12 municipalities nationally selected to receive coaching and support through the National League of Cities Advancing Economic Mobility Rapid Grant program. 
 
As a participant, Grand Island will receive a grant for economic mobility advancement along with six-month coaching from NLC.
 
“Being selected for this grant program is another step in moving the City of Grand Island forward economically,” Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele said. “We not only want to see the city grow, but we want to see our residents thrive while calling Grand Island home.”
 
NLC will provide coaching and support from expert staff to help advance the city’s efforts in promoting economic mobility for residents.
 
NLC’s Advancing Economic Mobility Rapid Grant program is supported by the Gates Foundation.
