GRAND ISLAND, Neb. --  Go Big Give returns for its 11th year, aiming to enhance the community once again.

With each passing year, the event grows larger in scale.

This year, a total of 155 nonprofits are participating in Go Big Give, with the overarching goal of surpassing last year's fundraising total.

According to Megan Vaughn, Communications Officer for the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation, the target for this year's fundraising efforts is more than $1.6 million.

“Every community is always gunning for this day and they’re ready to get their donations ready and they’re ready to find out who’s all participating and spread the word put up signs, put up posters. There’s always somebody out there willing to help just as we’ve been sitting here today, we’ve had people come in and bringing us food and just like hey we appreciate what you’re doing and we wanna make sure that while you’re here we’re keeping your fed and happy.”

“Participating in Go Big Give every year really helps organizations be able to reach a wider audience and really helps organizations grow together as a community and I think it’s so important that we as organizations work hard to lift each other up and that’s what Big Give is all about,” said Development Coordinator for the Stuhr Museum Megan Cure.

Headquarters for the event are at the Heartland United Way and donations can be dropped off until 8:00pm, or at the Go Big Give web page.

The event covers Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick counties.
