HASTINGS, Neb. — An Adams County official will soon serve on a statewide tax board.

Gov. Jim Pillen announced last week that he appointed Adams County Assessor Jackie Russell to the state’s Tax Equalization and Review Commission. The commission hears appeals from property owners who are challenging the rulings of local boards regarding the assessment of their property.

“Jackie has over a decade of real-world experience in ensuring statutory obligations are met for property valuations,” Pillen said in a statement. “Her knowledge makes her a great fit for the commission as they review property valuations in Nebraska.”

The commission is made up of three people appointed by the governor. Russell’s term will continue until Jan. 1, 2028.

Russell has served as Adams County Assessor for nine years and has worked in the county assessor’s office since 2007. She also has experience as a real estate agent.
