Impactful winter weather could arrive Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Central Nebraska might get a white Christmas.
Forecasters say there's a chance snow could start falling on Christmas Eve.
On Thursday morning, the National Weather Service forecast showed mainly rain showers and thunderstorms on Christmas Eve for the central and eastern portions of Nebraska.
NWS officials said snow could begin across western Nebraska on Saturday evening, lasting through Christmas Day. As much as one to three inches of snow was forecast for the Sidney area.
Rain, possibly changing to snow, across portions of central Nebraska could begin on Christmas Eve.
Officials are warning that the worst-case scenario could be road closures and recommend keeping an eye on the latest forecast and to be prepared to adjust holiday travel plans.
