KEARNEY, Neb. — A former news personality in Central Nebraska is facing a felony charge in Buffalo County.

27-year-old Joe Scanlan was a morning anchor at KSNB Local 4, the NBC affiliate in Hastings. The station says his employment ended on November 3 and, according to court records, he has since relocated to Arlington, TX.

Court documents show that a judge granted a woman a harassment protection order against Scanlan on Dec. 4. The next day, court documents say the woman reported to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department that she had received a threatening email. On Monday, she again reported threatening emails to the sheriff’s office. Investigators say Scanlan threatened to kill her and suggested that the woman kill herself.

On Tuesday, a judge signed an arrest warrant charging Scanlan with terroristic threats and two counts of intimidation by electronic communication. As of Wednesday night, there were no records of Scanlan being arrested.
