Beatrice Art Show Opens This Friday
The Beatrice Art Guild will feature an art show during the holiday season.
The Beatrice Area Art Guild will be featuring an art show in downtown Beatrice thru out the holiday season. The show will kick-off this Friday evening at 6th and Court in the former Medicine Shop building.
Art Guild member Minnie Woods says the art show will feature all different kinds of art work.
“People are doing wood carving. I mean beautiful wood carving. One man makes wooden flowers. We have oil and acrylic. We have one lady that does quilling which is twisted little pieces of paper. We have photography. We will have lots of photographs to come and see.”
The Friday evening opening will be held from five to seven and is free to attend. Art Guild member Roselyn Shafer says this is the second year the art guild has sponsored an art show…
“And we will have wreaths and paintings and photography and all of the above. Come in and take a look. At the opening on Friday night we are having refreshments and we might have little treat bags. We are also having some drawings this year and be giving away some art.”
In addition to the Friday night opening, the art show will be open on Saturdays…December second, ninth and the sixteenth from 10am to four p-m.
Speaking on KWBE's "Beatrice Today" program Shafer says the Art Guild formed about 30 years ago and consists of about 30 local artists.
“It was to get people together that enjoyed art, enjoyed doing art, or appreciating art and having a good time while they were at it.”
Shafer says the art guild is busy thru out the year holding workshops, art classes and attending conventions.
