MONA Presents Beyond the Lens - 'Mary Poppins'

Film has the ability to both reflect and connect humanity within the art of storytelling. Through the Beyond the Lens series, and in partnership with The World Theatre, The Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) presents a curated selection of films highlighting cultural, aesthetic, and historical viewpoints. At the center of each screening is the Museum’s mission to be a platform for the arts, bringing people together and encouraging meaningful engagement. 

The next film to be showcased is Mary Poppins. In its day in 1964, this lavish modern fairy tale was celebrated for its special effects, along with its catchy songs, and has become a beloved classic. Winner of five Academy Awards®, including Best Actress (Julie Andrews), Best Song (“Chim Chim Cher-ee”) and Best Visual Effects, Mary Poppins is a movie experience your family will enjoy over and over again. “Practically Perfect In Every Way” Mary Poppins flies out of the windy London skies and into the home of two mischievous children. With the help of a carefree chimney sweep named Bert (Dick Van Dyke), the spirited nanny turns every chore into a game and every day into a “Jolly Holiday.” Share the music, the magic, and the joy of Mary Poppins with a whole new generation.
