KEARNEY, Neb. — Nobody is hurt after authorities say two men stole a pickup in Kearney and fired shots at the owner.

Kearney Police say the incident happened around 6:00 a.m. at an apartment parking lot on Villa Drive on the west edge of town. The victim says she saw two men drive off with her pickup. She followed them in a different vehicle.

A news release says the men drove west on Railroad St. from 30th Ave. and left the city limits. A few hundred yards later, the pickup stopped and the driver fired multiple shots from a handgun at the owner, who was on the phone with police at the time. At least one bullet hit the car but nobody was injured. The owner stopped pursuing the truck after the gunshots.

Investigators say they found the pickup abandoned on a rural road north of Odessa. The driver was a white man with a shaved or bald head. He might have been wearing a long-sleeved white or brown flannel shirt.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Kearney Police Department (308) 237-2104 or Buffalo County Crimestoppers (308) 237-3424.

This is the fourth incident in which gunshots were reported over the past five days in Kearney.
