Authorities looking for missing inmate

An inmate with charges in Buffalo County is currently missing from an Omaha facility.

OMAHA, Neb. -- An inmate with charges in Buffalo County is currently missing from an Omaha facility.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said 20-year-old Julian Tapia tampered with his electronic monitor Sunday morning. They reportedly found his monitor a mile away from the Community Corrections Center – Omaha.

Officials said Tapia is a 6'4'', 190 lbs., Hispanic man with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone who may know where he is can contact their local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol.

According to authorities, Tapia was serving a sentence of eight to 21 years for charges of first- and second-degree assaults in Buffalo County. He started his sentence on July 17, 2020, and has a parole hearing in February 2024. His tentative release date is Aug. 17, 2030.
