Millions in federal dollars directed towards expanding broadband in Central Nebraska

The Nebraska Public Service Commission is doling out nearly $2 million in federal funds to help expand broadband in central Nebraska.

LINCOLN , Neb. - The Nebraska Public Service Commission is doling out nearly $2 million in federal funds to help expand broadband in central Nebraska.

The PSC announced grants to help build infrastructure in rural Cozad, southern Phelps County, Chapman, and Archer. The projects will bring broadband access to more than 352 new locations.

Cozad: areas west and north of town, Cozad Telephone Company, $640,170.00

Phelps County: select areas mostly south of Holdrege, Glenwood Telecommunications, $892,910.59

Chapman: town of Chapman, Eagle Broadband, $338,004.00

Archer: town of Archer, Eagle Broadband, $108,153.00

Overall, the PSC passed out more than $20 million in the form of 37 grants. Grant recipients must complete their projects by June 2024.
