HASTINGS, Neb. - Nebraska Schools eSports Association is hosting its fourth annual fall state high school tournament at Hastings College.
The competition is being held at the college’s Esports arena in the Gray Center through tomorrow evening.
Nebraska Schools eSports Association Board Member Nate Simmons says the event has grown exponentially. The association has 80 schools from across Nebraska and 40 of those are represented at the state competition.
“There’s some kids that are athletes, there’s kids that aren’t in anything else in school so this is something that really gives them the opportunity to do something they love with other kids that love the same kind of games, and play together so it's just a really great experience for kids" Simmons said.
The NSeSA’s State completion includes the top four teams for Valorant and Rocket League and top eight Smash Brother Ultimate players in each of four divisions.
The winners get medals from 1st through 4th place, the state champion gets a trophy and some could get scholarships to Hastings College.
The competition is being streamed on the NSeSA and Hastings College Twitch channels.
