GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Police are investigating a second armed robbery in less than a week.

GIPD said a man wearing a mask entered the Sonic Drive In on South Locust just before closing Monday at 10:19 p.m.

Captain Jim Duering said the suspect, a man about 6 feet tall, threatened employees with what they believed to be a handgun, demanding money and property.

The employees complied and the suspect took off with $1,030.68 and a cell phone.

Police recovered the phone in the parking lot.

Capt. Duering said no shots were fired.

He said they don’t have enough information at this moment to say if this is connected to the armed robbery at Y & N Liquor on Saturday morning.

Both robberies are still under investigation.
