GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The Christmas tree is ready for the big celebration at Railside in Grand Island.

Thursday morning, the Railside Christmas tree was cut down with the help of the Grand Island City Utilities and Parks and Rec departments.

It was cut down from Kirk Hansen’s yard who made the decision to donate it this year. The tree was then transported to the plaza where it will be decorated for the Railside Christmas event.

The lighting of the tree and Festoon Lights will happen during the Railside Christmas event on Friday, Nov. 18, at 5:30 p.m. There will also be more activities, like Santa and Mrs. Claus, Christmas escape rooms, GISH Jazz Caroling and more.
