HOLDREGE, NE — A Central Nebraska woman is injured after an Amtrak train collided with her car.

The Phelps County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened at the intersection of R Road and US Highway 6 about three miles east of Holdrege. 20-year-old Abigail Woosley of rural Holdrege was northbound on R Road and didn’t stop at the train crossing. A news release says the front of the train hit the front driver’s side of the vehicle as it edged onto the railway. The impact swung the car around, slamming its rear-end into the train. It rolled once before coming to rest on it’s top.

Woosley was driven to Phelps Memorial Health Center with neck injuries. Her car was totaled and police issued her a citation.

None of the train passengers were injured and the train sustained minor damage.
