ALDA, Neb. -- A central Nebraska man is being sought by authorities after being suspected of stealing irrigation wire.

Officials said 56-year-old Charles Swisher of Alda was charged with six counts of felony theft, five counts of felony criminal mischief and six counts of trespassing.

According to court documents, Swisher is connected to irrigation wire thefts at eight Hall County farms west of Grand Island.

Authorities said Swisher is believed to have sold over 2,700 pounds of copper wire to an Omaha scrap metal dealer, pocketing about $11,000 in the process.

Officials said they've found spools of wire and tools used to cut and strip wire in Swisher's pickup but haven't located him.

According to authorities, anyone with information on Swisher's whereabouts should call the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
